When I give speeches and presentations, I often look at the faces of the people in the audience to see if they’re following what I’m saying. I do the same thing when I’m trying to explain multiplying fractions to a wide-eyed fifth grader who’d rather be on the swing set. Visual cues are really important in communication. You can tell if someone is in agreement with you or if they’re just nodding and smiling so they can get outside faster (I think you know who I’m talking about!) That’s why giving presentations in person is so valuable. The phone’s a great tool — and really, where’d we be without it — but it lacks the visual aspect that’s so vital in person-to-person communication.
I can’t tell you how many times I’d go through a brilliant presentation on the phone only to have the person ask me to come in and present it all over again. And, next week or in two weeks because we couldn’t get a mutual time. That’s just plain lost opportunity. Plus, one meeting with travel time pretty much eats up a whole day.
Well there’s good news on the horizon. Talk Fusion is introducing videoconferencing to the Talk Fusion product! Yeah, I can book meetings back to back and demo the product! I can share content on my desktop, bring the kids, my co-workers, even the dog into the shot. First of all it’s a great tool to share the product but it’s also an awesome new feature to talk about.
Stay tuned to this blog and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for more updates on when videoconferencing will be available to all Talk Fusion users.
